Training Grant for TPCA Leadership Training Classes (LECOP)
Purpose: To Support Training Toward the Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP)
About the Program
The Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) is offering competitive grants of up to $1,000 each to support TPCA member organizations in obtaining leadership and command-level training that aligns with the Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP).
These grants are designed to strengthen leadership development, enhance operational readiness, succession planning, and support training that builds LECOP-related competencies such as ethics, organizational management, and decision-making.
Who Can Apply: Sworn members of TPCA member organizations
Eligible Training: Grant funds may be used for: Tuition for courses offered by the Texas Police Chiefs Association
How to Apply
Submit a completed TPCA Training Grant Application, including:
- Description of requested training (Course/Courses title)
- Organizational need for funding
- Expected impact of the training
- Budget not to exceed $1,000
Selection & Award Process
- Applications are reviewed by a three-member evaluation committee.
- Scores are averaged across reviewers.
- Tie-breaker priority may go to:
- Agencies with fewer officers
- Rural agencies
- Agencies without existing Torniquets
- Grants limited to $1,000 per agency.
Equipment Grant for IFAKs and Tourniquets
Eligible Applicants: Texas Law Enforcement Agency whose Head of Agency is a member in good standing of the Texas Police Chiefs Association
Purpose of the Grant: To provide Texas law enforcement agencies IFAK (Individual First Aid Kits) or Tourniquets for officers, enhancing officer safety and lifesaving response capabilities.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, an agency must:
- Be a law enforcement agency operating in Texas whose Agency Head is a member in good standing of TPCA
- Demonstrate the current need for torniquets.
- Submit a complete application by the deadline.
- Agree to provide a photo of officers with the equipment once it is received
Required Application Components (part that would be the online form)
A. Agency Information
- Agency name and address
- Head of agency name and title
- Number of sworn officers
- Point of contact
B. Statement of Need (250–500 words)
- Current availability of IFAKs or torniquets
- Officer deployment environment (rural, urban, high-risk, etc.)
- Specific gaps (e.g., officers without IFAKs or torniquets, insufficient supply)
C. Agency Commitment
- Brief statement confirming IFAKs or tourniquets will be deployed to officers. Check box
Selection & Award Process
- Applications are reviewed by a three-member evaluation committee.
