Active (Chief/Agency Head) Membership

$3 per $1000 base annual salary

Active Membership in the Association may be granted to any individual holding a license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as a peace officer, serving as the Chief of Police or City Marshal, and acting as the chief administrative head of a police department under any title. This includes individuals serving in the following capacities: Police Departments in incorporated cities or towns; Public or private secondary or higher education institutions, including colleges and universities; Airport police, transit police, railroad police, and water district police as defined under the Texas Water Code; Public or private hospital district police.

Eligible to hold elected office.
Has the privilege to vote, attend and join in the discussion at official meetings and conferences.
Eligible to serve on committees and chair certain committees as appointed by the President.

Command Membership

$85

per year

Any individual licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as a peace officer with command responsibilities who have been sponsored by their agency’s Police Chief or Chief Executive Officer. (OR) Any graduates of the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP) who have been sponsored by their agency’s Police Chief or Chief Executive Officer.

Not eligible to hold elected office or vote.
May attend and participate in discussions at official meetings and conferences.
Eligible to serve on committees and chair certain committees, as appointed by the Association President.

Associate Membership

$50

per year

An Associate Membership may be granted, upon Executive Board approval and payment of required dues, to individuals who meet any of the following criteria: Special Agents or Assistant Special Agents in charge of any office of a federal law enforcement agency; Interim or acting chief administrative heads of police departments; Heads of state law enforcement agencies and their command staff; City/Town Managers, Assistant City/Town Managers, or otherwise Directors of public safety supervising a law enforcement agency, who are former Active or Associate Members; First Line Supervisors (Corporals and Sergeants) who are sponsored by their agency’s Police Chief or Chief Executive Officer; Individuals in supportive roles to law enforcement agencies, such as legal advisors, accreditation managers, psychologists, and victim assistance professionals; Members of the academic community engaged in law enforcement teaching or research; Elected law enforcement officials, including sheriffs and constables; Retired chiefs from other states residing in Texas.

Attend and join in the discussion at official meetings and conferences.
Eligible to serve on committees and chair certain committees as appointed by the President.

Corporate Membership

$500

per year

Any company having an office or conducting business in the State of Texas may become a corporate member of the Association, after approval of the Executive Board and the payment of appropriate dues.
